CURATOR'S NOTE
The Lay Ruching Dress, made from hand-screen-printed cotton silk, combines sophistication with ease. Subtle ruching in red thread adds playful movement, while the back button keyhole and side pockets balance practicality with elegance. The soft silhouette drapes fluidly over the body, creating a refined yet breezy form. Each detail has been crafted with meticulous care and hours of skilled artisan labour, resulting in a dress that merges comfort, artistry, and timeless charm.
Note: The occasional irregularity in color, shade and print are characteristic of the hand made process. Each and every piece is as individual and distinct as you are. They are not to be treated as defects.
THE DESIGNER STORY
Inspired by the Japanese ideology of wabi-sabi, referring to that which is imperfect, impermanent, aged, humble and authentic, Ahmev carries an aesthetic that embraces the value of the passing of time, the seasoning of time and the elements, the handmade and the simple. Wabi-sabi is a way of being open to emotions and of acceptance; a state of mind and a state of feeling. The philosophy of wabi sabi is embodied in the design process, being showcased in the finished designs through the subtle hues, natural materials, frayed edges and the visible stitching and asymmetry.
